Living local and shopping local on Small Business Saturday in Ferdinand on November 25 will get participants all wrapped up in the Christmas spirit.

To receive a free goodie bag, all shoppers have to do is visit four Ferdinand merchants – Monastery Gift Shop, Muller True Value, St. Benedict’s Brew Works, and Tin Lizzie’s — on November 25, have a punch card initialed or hole-punched, and take the card to Monastery Event Hall by 5 p.m.  The goodie bag will include a t-shirt and other great items from various Ferdinand Merchants. The merchants involved will open at 9 a.m.on November 25.

Monastery Gift Shop, Monastery Event Hall, and St. Benedict’s Brew Works are all located together on East 10th Street in Ferdinand. Muller True Value is at 1855 Main Street, and Tin Lizzie’s is at 430 Main Street.

Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating communities across the country. Ferdinand Merchants are sponsoring the event locally. Other participating merchants are the Ferdinand News, German American Bank, and The Herald.

Angi Seffernick, who is helping coordinate the event, and is director of Monastery Goods & Services for the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, says the goodie bag giveaway was incorporated so merchants could show appreciation to their customers, and link more closely to the Christmas tradition of giving gifts to others.
