Staff in Hildegard Health Center of Ferdinand recently received an Engagement Excellence Award from the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society. Good Samaritan manages the Ferdinand facility, which is located in Monastery Immaculate Conception. This award recognizes the commitment to caring of Hildegard employees. Like Northwood Retirement Community, which is owned by Good Samaritan, Hildegard staff live the motto In Christ’s Love, Everyone is Someone. In a letter addressed to Hildegard staff, Sister Barbara Lynn Schmitz, prioress of the monastery in Ferdinand, stated that the quality of care the Ferdinand Benedictine sisters receive is the direct result of the dedication and focus of Hildegard Health Center staff. While the sisters do utilize the excellent service of the Northwood facility when no beds are available in Hildegard, Hildegard has been and will continue to be the primary care provider for long-term care for monastery sisters.
