Liturgical Prayer

As liturgy means “the work of the people,” communal prayer is something we benefit from by doing together.

Liturgy of the Hours

Sisters who live on mission gather together for prayer just as the sisters at the monastery do.The Liturgy of the Hours is the official prayer of the Church, and the lifeblood of our Benedictine monastery. It’s the fundamental way we gather as a community to pray three times a day, praising God with hymns, chanted psalms, and Scripture readings. We share the experience of God’s presence in the biblical Word, in song, and in silence.

The Sacraments: Eucharist

The Eucharist is the sacrament of Jesus’ last meal with his friends. Through it, Christ conveys his life to all believers, and affirms the goodness of created matter. The Eucharist nourishes us with both spiritual food and drink, and this meal of sacrifice becomes the body and blood of Jesus again. In the Eucharist, we become what we receive, thus encountering Jesus anew each time we gather.
