Devotional Prayer

Devotional prayer is a way of praying that builds on an emotional connection with God. Many traditional Catholic forms of piety can be considered devotional prayer.
Eucharistic Adoration

While God is present everywhere, Catholics believe that Jesus Christ is especially present in the Eucharist. Adoration provides a sacred ritual space outside of mass where one can reverence Jesus in this form.
The exposition usually follows this format: The consecrated host is put into a monstrance or ciborium on the altar. The priest incenses the Blessed Sacrament, followed by prayer and adoration. Benediction concludes exposition. The priest again incenses the Blessed Sacrament, then blesses everyone with the Blessed Sacrament, and returns the consecrated bread to the tabernacle.
Praying with the saints, the rosary, and the Stations of the Cross are among other forms of devotional prayer.
