The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, will hold their 150th anniversary summer social on Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana
Social hours will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
Friday night activities include a fish fry and concerts featuring “SwallowTale” and “I Am Spartacus.” Saturday’s activities include an 8 a.m. Color Run/Walk, chicken dinners, the Virtual Almighty Duck Race, live musical entertainment, and the drawing for the Grand Raffle.
Thirty-five booths, including the country store, surprise bags, Bingo, kids’ games and inflatables, tethered hot-air balloon rides (weather permitting), face painting, and many more entertaining activities for children and adults will be located on the monastery grounds near Monastery Event Hall, 840 E. 10th Street. Elephant ears, lemon shake-ups, bratwurst, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked goods, soft drinks, and many other delectable treats will be available for purchase.
Attendees can buy chances on over 60 handmade quilts, including 2 special quilts. Tickets for over 40 theme baskets, including a Christmas basket, baby basket, and an Indiana University basket, also will be sold.
All proceeds will benefit the mission and ministries of the Sisters of St. Benedict.
Monastery Immaculate Conception is located one mile north of Exit 63 on Interstate 64. Once in Ferdinand, turn east on 10th Street and follow the signs.
Founded in 1867, the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand currently number 143 and serve in areas of education, parish work, health care, retreat and spirituality work, social services, and counseling in Indiana, Kentucky, and Peru.
