Inquiry Stage

The Inquiry Stage, the first step in discernment, is for single Catholic women, 18 years or older, who wish to learn more about monastic life before making a vocational decision. During the Inquiry Stage, there is continual communication between women who have expressed interest and the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana.

What We Do

• Acquaint you with our community through telephone calls and mailings.
• Maintain regular contact and help you in your discernment.
• Invite you to visit the Monastery, perhaps for one of the Benedictine Life Weekends/Week or a Visiting Weekend.
• Provide prayer support by matching you with one of our sisters in the Prayer Partners Program.
• Recommend recent articles and books about Benedictine life to help you become more knowledgeable about our values.

What You Do

• Stay in communication with us.

• Make an effort to meet our vocation directors and visit the Monastery at Ferdinand.
• Continue gathering information that will help you with your decision.
• Indicate, on a yearly basis, your interest in continuing as an inquirer with our community.
