Sisters Announce New Cookbook

The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana have been compiling recipes and humorous stories from the monastery family to produce “Morsels and Chuckles from the Monastery,” a 287-page cookbook. This third cookbook edition from the sisters includes over 450 recipes for appetizers, beverages, soups, salads, vegetables and sides, main dishes, breads, rolls, desserts, cookies, and candy.  Also included are excerpts from the Rule of St. Benedict, which is the guide by which the sisters live and minister, and where one can find food as part of the topic of six chapters. The sisters, their employees, and Oblates have submitted their best recipes, as well as over one hundred chuckle-inducing stories.

The cookbook is now available and can be purchased at For Heaven’s Sake Gift Shop or online at forheavensake.org

The sisters will be posting recipe demonstrations from the new cookbook on their blog periodically throughout the year. Follow Sisters of St. Benedict on facebook for announcements on the blog posting or visit thedome.org for blog entries.

Founded in 1867, the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand currently number 159 and serve in the areas of education, parish work, health care, retreat and spirituality work, social services, counseling, and mission work in Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Italy, and Peru.
