Journaling: Praying Our Experiences

March 2-3, 2012

Journal writing is a way to approach the deeper reality of our lives. It helps us uncover the source of meaning and strength inherent in the events and relationships that unfold in the daily. This in turn brings greater clarity as we come to embrace who we are and who God is in the transforming process of life. It also helps us become more deeply aware of our profound desire to be, to grow into wholeness, and to deepen our relationship with God. The Journal is an instrument of growth and a way of praying our experiences.

The workshop will introduce the participants to an experience of journaling that can be continued on a personal basis. A journal will be provided for each participant.

Presenter: Sister Maria Tasto is a member of the Sisters of St. Benedict, Ferdinand, IN. Maria is an experienced counselor and spiritual director. She gives retreats and growth workshops.

She received her training in spiritual direction at the Institute of Religious Formation at St. Louis University. She has advance degrees in theology and scripture at St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN and in English from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. She also is a certified counselor and a certified presenter of Centering Prayer. Maria is on the faculty of Contemplative Outreach and coordinates the Lectio Divina service committee.

Maria studied the method of journaling under Dr. Ira Progoff and Brother Joseph Schmitt and is a certified presenter of Intensive Journal Workshops.
