How Does One Become an Oblate? Seek Information Oblate Inquirer A person wishing to become an Oblate should contact the Oblate Leadership Team. This contact can be made by letter, phone, e-mail, or personal visit. The Oblate Leadership Team member will share information about the life and meaning of becoming an Oblate of Monastery Immaculate Conception. Oblate leadership team member e-mail address are below.
Oblate Candidate After a period of inquiry, the person may request to be received as an Oblate Candidate. The time of candidacy (one year or more) gives one the opportunity to study the Rule of St. Benedict and to discover how it applies to daily life. This preparation is offered at the Oblate meetings and through regular meetings or correspondence with a sister companion. (Click here for information on upcoming meetings.)
Oblate of St. Benedict When the period of candidcay is completed, the candidate makes the Act of Oblation, which is a promise to dedicate oneself to the service of God and all people according to the Rule of St. Benedict in so far as one's state of life permits. This Act of Oblation is made with the support of the Benedictine community. The Oblation document is kept in the Monastery Immaculate Conception archives.
